The company treats Ch'ien-nü's tragic, supernatural subject matter with a
light touch, pointing to the body's fleeting nature by playing in wheelchairs. With theatrical elements extending from the manners of 1980s teen angst to the formal gestures of Peking opera, the ensemble's eclectic musical selections are also taken to new highs.
