The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
adapted by Matthew Earnest
from the story by Katherine Anne Porter

premiere: August, 1997
at The New York International Fringe Festival
where the company received the BIFF AWARD for Excellence in Ensemble Acting.

Subsequently presented:
July, 1998 at The English Theater (FOIO)
April, 1999 at The Festival of Independent Theaters, Dallas, Texas
April, 1999 at The University of Texas at Arlington.

Described as a Southern Gothic Chant, the ensemble weaves old Baptist hymns into its performance of this stream of consciousness story. An old Texas woman lies on her deathbed, replaying and mostly reinventing her past. As she waits for the hereafter, she can't escape the memory of being left at the altar as a young woman. But before the night is over, she'll be jilted again. The production showcases the company's spare design sense and its unique use of a capella singing.

Running time: 60 minutes.

This production is available for touring.
